Troubleshooting Season Crashes
The program crashing intermittently can be caused by a number of things. It is often difficult to pin down what might be causing the issue.
However general things to check are,
- User rights to the Season Folder. Users should have sufficient read and write permissions to the folder
- Anti-virus program scanning the Season folder. Anti-virus program should be configured to ignore the Season folder.
- Windows and network issues. Since the progarm executable and data files are often read from a network drive, problems can occur if the client loses connection to the server or if the server closes a connection. The Windows Event Viewer can be used on either the client PC or the server to try and diagnose problems.
- Windows Update. If updates are pending on the server, this can cause instability. The server should be restarted to allow the updates to clear.
- SQL Cache/Driver. If the database is in Microsoft SQL Server, Structure caching should be trued off to prevent issues arising from clients using different versions of the SQL Driver.
- Hardware. Clients should be connected to the network using an ethernet cable. Wi-fi connections are slower and less reliable and so are not recommended.
