Label will not print to specific printers

Sometimes a label will not print on a specific printer whilst it will print on others.

This is probably down to how the label has been set up.

This can be very difficult to troubleshoot. Some tips are,

  1. Update the drivers on the printer from Seagull
  2. Remove elements from the label 1 by 1 and see if a specific element is causing the issue. A typical problem can be with the barcode where it is looking for a barcode number from product setup that is blank against the product.
  3. Change the font to a font from the printer manufacturer to see if that helps (make sure to select the printer in File -> Print so you can see what fonts are available)
  4. Recreate the label from scratch for that printer. (Again make sure to select the printer in File-> Print before you start)

Other notes on creating setting up labels

When setting up a label you should make sure to select the printer to which this label will be printed. (File -> Print -> Select Printer -> Close). According to Seagull this will heavily influence how the label is set to the printer and is a usual cause of label issues.

This will also allow you to select resident fonts on the printer. These should be used in preference to TrueType fonts like Ariel as they are probably preloaded on to the printer. This will generally make printing faster and more reliable

If the printers are by different manufacturers, you are going to have to find common set up that will work on both. e.g. a basic font like Courier or 3of9 font for bar codes.
